26 ft long Titanic model
This week is the week of the LEGO built ship – with yesterday’s world record and today we learn of a young man, Brynjar Karl Bigisson from Iceland, who created an awesome model of the Titanic. Built over a period of 700 hours, using 56,000 bricks, this model is 26 feet long. That raises some interesting questions. The new world record MOC of a cruise ship is 27.7 feet long and has 2.5 million bricks; this model is just 1.7 feet shorter but considerably less bricks, which means it weighs a lot less too. The model of the Titanic was built by a ten-year-old and is making its American debut at the Titanic Museum Attraction in Pigeon Force, Tennessee. I appreciate the excellent work that the LEGO Certified Professional Andy Hung and the many volunteers did in making the cruise ship but I am in awe of a ten-year-old who can design and build a 56,000 brick ship. Well done Brynjar!
As a side note – Brynjar is on the Autism spectrum. This is one example of how young folks with Autism who get great support and mentoring and be given an opportunity to embrace themselves, their challenges, and rise to excellence. Well done Brynjar’s parents and grandparents. Now where did we put our black LEGO bricks???
