LEGO Pop-Up Book

I’m sure we all have fond memories of a pop-up book or card.  Those three-dimensional books that bring stories alive. What you may not know is that a LEGO Ideas project was submitted that builds a pop-up scene when the “book” is opened.  The designers, Grant Davis and Jason Allemann, didn’t lock down what scene could be used but they supplied a few ideas for the LEGO Team.  The image they used is reminiscent of Little Red Riding Hood but they also showed some castle and western pictures.  I love the way they added a book cover when folded and how they use the Technic parts to make the pop-up mechanism.  It’s also great to see a collaborative effort that is multinational and multi-generational. Isn’t this what LEGO is all about – engineering fun across the world.

It did receive 10,000 votes which is what is needed for LEGO to consider it for production.  If you are not aware of LEGO Ideas, it is a website that allows users to submit ideas for LEGO products to be turned into potential sets available commercially, with the original designer receiving 1% of the royalties.
