Gourmet Coffee Day and vertical LEGO faces!

I’m standing in the jungle outside of Brickopolis, where we grow our own coffee beans, just so I can wish you a very happy National Gourmet Coffee Day. Not sure which nation made it a national holiday, but any chance I get to have a triple venti soy latte is a great morning for me.

I know it’s tough to see the waterfall behind me. It’s what is called a “SNOT” build. SNOT, in LEGO talk, means Studs Not On Top. When building a vertical face use the stud-faced bricks (Design ID 87087, called a “Brick, 1x1, with knob”) to attach the plates. As you add more rows of bricks to the support behind the face, ensure you have four rows of bricks between the stud-faced attachment points.

Also, did you know that today in 1778 the explorer, Captain James Cook, discovered the Hawaiian Islands. He named them the Sandwich Islands, after Lord Sandwich, who was then first Lord of the Admiralty (always take care of your patrons). Did you know Captain Cook was the inspiration for Captain James T. Kirk?
